Alberto Cassutti Liutaio

I learned the art of violin making at the Parma school led by Renato Scrollavezza. In 2006 I moved to London (at Bridgewood & Neitzert and Florian Leonhard) to learn the tricks and methods of restoration. I attended refresher courses by Guy Rabut, Hans J.Nebel, Andrea Ortona, Iris Carr, Gudrun Kremeier, George Stoppani, Claudia Fritz where I perfected techniques such as set-up, varnish retouch, acoustics and innovative methods of restoration. Antique instruments restoration is also an opportunity for the construction of new one.

In 2013 I built a violin for the absolute winner of the XX Violin Competition “Andrea Postacchini”, prize won by Amalia Hall violinist from New Zealand. In October 2016 I participated to "Quartett gebaut gehort" event hosted in Konzerthaus-Vienna.

In October 2017 I participated to the "Fourth Conference on the Conservation of Musical Instruments" at M.I.M.-Brussels. In 2019 I won three awards at the international competition ANLAI-Italy for antiqued vo and va
