BVMA Course: Bow Rehairing and Bow Making [POSTPONED]

  • Halsway Manor Somerset TA4 4BA United Kingdom (map)

This course has been postponed until we can reassess with regards to the Covid-19 situation. All participants should have received notification, if you are signed up to this course but haven’t heard from us please email admin@bvma.org.uk

With Jutta Walcher, Derek Wilson and Tim Baker

Jutta is an award-winning bow maker, with 25 years’ experience repairing and rehairing bows for many great musicians, including 10 years at the Royal Academy of Music. In her rehairing demonstrations, she will be highlighting the importance of this part of bow making by bringing to the fore not only the practical stages of the job, but also the essential preparatory work that should always be carried out. Although the rehair is pretty much the ‘last stage’, without this being done well, the instrument becomes a rather useless item!

Derek and Tim will be focussing on Double Bass bows but if you prefer to make bows for Violin, Viola or Cello you will be most welcome. The cost of the course to include tuition, all food and accommodation will be £600 for shared room with non ensuite. £650 for shared room with ensuite, £700 for single with non ensuite, and £750 for single with ensuite.
