Halsway 2019 Bow Course Film by John Milnes

In December 2019 members of the British Violin Making Association (BVMA) came together for a collaborative bow making, rehairing and repair course. The venue was Halsway Manor, the National Centre for Folk Arts. It is a great venue with a workshop big enough for 13 people.

The course ran for five days, and the workshops were open for extended hours. We wanted to offer the opportunity for people already skilled to the level of graduating from violin making college to feel confident to also work on bows. All were welcome from those having no experience with bows at all, to the well-established restorer or maker who enjoys working with and learning from others.
