Baroque and classical set-up for violin viola and cello. Bow repairs.
22 Saint Luke's Road
Anna was apprenticed to Mathijs Heyligers in Cremona, Italy, in 1986, where she was taught to make and restore violins and cellos. She returned to her native Amsterdam in 1990 where she worked alone making and repairing instruments. In 1997 she had the opportunity to learn more about bow making in the workshop of Matthew Coltman in West London, followed by a year work experience with Jutta Walcher in Oxord.
For a few years she took on all the bow repairs from J.P. Guivier in Central London and also worked independently in South East London. Since June 2004 she has lived in Brighton, East Sussex, where she works from home repairing instruments and bows.
Anna specialises in bow rehairs and repairs as well as instrument repairs and sound adjustments. People often come to her just before an important concert or a recording, when they are most critical of their own sound.
The historically informed set-up has grown into an important part of her work and she has in the most prestigious ensembles in the UK and abroad.
Equally important are her local customers and she finds it incredibly satisfying to always aim for the best results: the optimisation of the quality of sound.
